UPDATE 1-Pall Corp sales down 5.4 percent in quarter
* Revenue of $546.9 mln vs. $570.7 mln analyst estimates
* Will not renew share rights plan
BOSTON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Diversified U.S. manufacturer Pall Corp (PLL.N) said on Wednesday quarterly sales fell 5.4 percent as demand for industrial filters fell off in the face of economic malaise in the United States.
Sales for the company's first fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31 came to $546.9 million, below the $570.7 million analysts expected, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Factoring out fluctuations in exchange rates, sales were down 6.9 percent.
The Port Washington, New York-based company said its board has opted not to renew its share rights plan, which expires Dec. 1.
Pall said it plans to release first-quarter earnings results on Dec. 9. (Reporting by Scott Malone, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
