Deals of the day -- mergers and acquisitions

Nov 24 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 0400 GMT on Tuesday.

** China Eastern Airlines, the country's third most valuable airline, said that it would complete its merger transaction with Shanghai Airlines by the end of the year. To read more, please double click on [ID:nBJD003253]

** Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co (8031.T) says it sold its stake in struggling carrier Japan Airlines Corp (9205.T) on the market during the six months to the end of September. [ID:nTFA006511]

** Financier Carl Icahn has offered $156.5 million to acquire the partially built Fontainebleau Las Vegas resort, which has been stalled in bankruptcy court since June, according to the resort's chief operating officer. [ID:nN23115654]

** Canada's top life insurer Manulife Financial Corp (MFC.TO) said it agreed to buy a 49 percent stake in ABN AMRO TEDA Fund Management Co in China for $156 million in cash, following up on pledges to hit the acquisition trail. [ID:nN23273423]

** Reliance Industries' (RELI.BO) offer for LyondellBasell Industries [ACCEIN.UL] is a serious one and should be closely considered by the bankrupt petrochemicals maker, a lawyer representing unsecured creditors said.
