Infineon sees 3-4 positive years ahead-CEO in paper

FRANKFURT, Nov 27 (Reuters) - German chipmaker Infineon (IFXGn.DE) expects the semiconductor industry to have a run of good years as the sector emerges from a sharp downturn, its chief executive was quoted as saying.

"I think that three to four positive years for the semiconductor sector lie ahead if there are no serious disruptions in the global economy," Peter Bauer told the Handelsblatt newspaper in an interview published on Friday.

He saw three trends emerging in the industry: contract assemblers would become more important, chipmakers would become more specialised, and consolidation in some areas would give companies critical mass.
