FACTBOX-Berkshire Hathaway's investments at a glance
Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N) (BRKb.N), the insurance and investment
company run by billionaire Warren Buffett, is paying $26 billion to buy out
railroad Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNI.N), the company's biggest-ever
investment.
Buffett, 79, took over Berkshire in 1965 when it was a struggling textile
mill. Berkshire now owns close to 80 companies with a total market value of
about $153 billion. Holdings of shares in U.S.-listed companies stood at $48.95
billion, at the end of June.
